The other day, my friend Sandy* called me to get some advice.
Sandy* had finally met a good one online and was really excited when Justin* asked her out for a third date (*names has been changed to protect their privacy).
He was the first man in a long time, that she could actually see herself in a relationship with…but, she didn’t want to get too far ahead of herself, after all this was only a few dates in.
On the third date, they did a walk and talk on the beach.
Sandy loved Justin’s funny stories about his family and some travel adventures he had recently gone on.
At the end of another great date, Justin said he would call her the next day.
While they were chatting on the phone, Justin said out of the blue…
“You’re hard to get to know”
Sandy didn’t know what he meant by that or what to say, after all she thought they had 3 amazing dates where she thought she had shared a lot about herself.
After they hung up the phone, Sandy got all in her head about what he said.
She thought to herself…
I don’t know what he’s talking about, I’m not hard to get to know. It just takes time to get to know me, because I’m more of a private person and I don’t want to get my heartbroken.
And that’s when she asked me what he meant by that.
